"Unless the Lord builds the house,
they labor in vain that build it."
Psalm 127:1
Remember This?
Think back to one of the MD5 Assessment statements related to leading our families--"I pray with my wife daily."
With regard to leading our families effectively, I assert that there is no greater act of service than praying for/with our wives, and, together, praying for our children/grandchildren.
Unless The Lord...
Adrian Rogers shares, "We pray for our children and our grandchildren, every day by name, lifting them up to the Lord because the Bible says, “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain” (Psalm 127:1).
This Will Bring You Closer
As I look back on the life God has given us, I would be a sheer fool, an unmitigated egomaniac, if I tried to take praise for what God has done. God answers prayer. Some men don’t want to pray with women because they have a hard outer shell, but guys, humble yourselves, practice prayer with your wives. Let her hear you praying; let her hear you pouring out your heart before God. It will give her great confidence and great comfort. It will bring you closer to God and closer to one another."
Don't Labor in Vain
So, let's assess ourselves once again today--Are you praying with/for your wife daily?
Let's not "labor in vain," but rather let's pray for God's blessings so that the Lord, not we by ourselves, "builds the house!"
